Gabby & Petry Mejia

Gabby Mejia is senior pastor of New Birth “Place of Hope”, one of the fastest growing churches in the Central Florida area.

Gabby was born and raised in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. In 1989 Gabby had a personal encounter with Christ – this moment became a turning point in his life.  He received Christ in a tent crusade alongside broken people just like him where his passion for Christ developed by means of an outreach crusade. Little did Gabby know the setting God orchestrated to restore his life to Christ would be the passion for what he would be doing throughout his pastoral ministry.

For twelve years Gabby served in the NYC area where he preached in the streets, fed the homeless, mentored students instilling in them passion for the hurting and broken.

In 2001, the Lord opened a door for Gabby to move to Orlando, FL where he would serve as youth pastor for Iglesia El Calvario.  God graced him to grow in IEC’s Youth Xtreme (YX) with over 300 students (to God be the glory).  In 2007, the Lord pressed in Gabby’s heart to launch a church plant named New Birth Orlando (NBO). In a matter of two years, NBO birthed a daughter church in New York, New Birth New York (NBNY) a vibrant, soul-winning, evangelistic church in the heart of the Bronx. Several years later NBO experienced multiplication by means of another church plant in St. Cloud, Florida by the name of Nueva Vida, a Spanish church led by Pastor Carlos Duran who served as one of Gabby’s associate pastors for seven years.

Pastor Gabby’s vision is simple; to be a church that brings hope to everyone. Consequently, Gabby purposed in his heart to purchase a property called “Hope Center” with the sole purpose to inspire hope to all who are in need of help.  At the Hope Center, Gabby and the New Birth family endeavors to serve their community by providing food for indigent families, marriage seminars to marriages at risk, feeding and serving the homeless in addition to providing resources in helping them get out of their temporary situation.  We also reach our ‘at risk youth’ from our community who are in need of a safe haven and in need of encouragement by means of a comprehensive support system.

A graduate of Global University, Gabby is sought after as a motivational speaker at various church events, leadership conferences and assemblies throughout the nation and abroad. An alumnus at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary where he is undergoing his Masters’ Degree in Christian Leadership.

He resides in the heart of Central Florida, with his wife Petry and their three children, Gabirelle, John Gabriel and Jonathan.
